ALiVE - Erasmus+ project

Problem/Challenge:

The Erasmus+ KA2 project aims to promote media and information literacy (MIL) among citizens. In particular, it focuses on developing engaging and tailored learning opportunities for adults over 45, who may have fewer chances to acquire these skills.

Steps we took, our approach, pedagogy implemented:

Within the project consortium—comprising six partner organizations from Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Cyprus, and Austria—materials tailored to the target group’s needs were developed over a two-year project period. Initially, using a professional KOMET self-assessment, the current state of digital and media competencies of over 240 adults over 45 in six countries was assessed. Based on these results, the partner organizations developed a framework of methods and competencies. This framework provides guidance on the core skills required for media and information literacy, along with recommendations specifically tailored to the 45+ age group. In the project's second phase, a hackathon was held, during which partners collaboratively established a foundation to jointly create a Moodle eLearning course and a virtual 3D learning environment.

Results/outcomes:

An eLearning course to promote media and information literacy, hosted on the Moodle platform with six modules, as well as a virtual 3D learning environment, is now freely available online in five languages.

Federal Ministry of Finance

Problem/Challenge:

BMF tasked us with creating an online course for teenagers on financial literacy. The course should be useful for both self-study and classroom use.

Steps we took, our approach, pedagogy implemented:

We agreed with the client on learning objectives of the course to make sure it addresses the needs of the target group. To do so we consulted teachers and students from various business schools in Austria. We gathered materials and thought of different real situations, where students could use financial literacy and made stories out of these situations. The stories became canvases for the course we developed. We used storytelling, interactive activities and media to make our course more engaging. We used retrival practice method and prior knowledge activation for better retention of information.

Results/outcomes:

The course has been tested and feedbacked by 40 students and teachers. It consist of 30 modules divided into 4 sections.

eEducation Austria

Problem/Challenge:

The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research has commissioned various working groups to develop didactic tasks as Moodle courses.

Steps we took, our approach, pedagogy implemented:

In addition to the didactic preparation of the courses as learning objects, they were also linked to competence grids and featured in various platforms.

Results/Outcomes:

Around 350 digi.komp courses and 500 eTapas (small learning snacks) were developed in this way.

European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation - ECCO

Problem/Challenge:

Create learning objects for the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation integrating different platforms to be used for further self paced studies on the matter.
